Our time at "The Lazy Lizard" was a magical adventure.  North Captiva Island was like being whisked away to another time and place.  A place untouched by modern meddling, a place that time forgot.  The boat ride to the island felt like an adventure on it's own.  We were delivered to the island and greeted with streets paved with seashells.  A golf cart was waiting to deliver us to The Lazy Lizard, which is a modern 3 bedroom house that gave us all the comforts of home.  A full size kitchen was a joy to cook our family meals in.  Eating in the large dining room and sharing our beach stories of the day was a favorite of mine.  The 3 bedrooms are strategically placed, with 2 bedrooms on one side of the house and the master bedroom located on the opposite side.  The ocean was breathtaking.....a mere 2 minute ride on the golf cart delivered us to a near private beach.  At times the ocean felt like it was ours...we could let the kids roam freely and play.  Building sandcastles and observing the creatures that inhabit the beach brought smiles of wonder to their faces.  We will most certainly return to this tropical paradise and The Lazy Lizard.

"The Lazy Lizard is the perfect island hide-away.  No hustle and bustle - just laid back, peaceful, quiet island living.  From the time I stepped onto the boat (Island Girl Charters) that carried me across Pine Island Sound to the dock at North Captiva, I began to feel the stress of a busy and hectic lifestyle melt away.  A vacation at the Lazy Lizard on North Cap is the ultimate stress reliever.

The house itself is very comfortable - tastefully decorated with subtle island decor, clean and fresh, light and airy.  Plenty big for a family, yet intimate enough for a couple's get-away.  The owner's love of this property is evident.  They share many unexpected amenities: paper products, toiletries, laundry detergent, beach towels and more.

I loved the tree-top setting of this island-home - enjoying early mornings and late evenings on the wrap-around deck, among the gently swaying palm trees.  The stars at night are incredible.  Just enjoy the beauty of this place.  The short walk down the road to the beach and ocean each day was a favorite!  The tropical setting along the way was delightful and full of surprises:  tortoises, lizards, flowering tropical foliage.  The electric golf cart provided at the Lazy Lizard gave us the opportunity to explore much of the island, visit the local restaurant and watersport rentals, or carry our "picnic" supplies to the beach.  The sunsets are inspiring - too beautiful for words.  Bring the beach chairs (also provided at Lazy Lizard) and a basket of your favorite snacks and beverages!  An unforgettable memory!

We can't thank the owners of the Lazy Lizard enough for sharing this treasure with others.  If you book a stay at the Lazy Lizard, you won't be disappointed. "

North Captiva was truly beautiful in every aspect of the word and the Lazy Lizard is the perfect place to let all your worries melt away.  Island Girl Charters was very helpful and it was a smooth ride from the mainland to the dock at North Captiva.  We were even able to enjoy some playful dolphins that jumped alongside the boat on the way there.

The island has a very comfortable climate, not nearly as hot or humid as one might think.  There are so many attractive plant species, interesting birds, and other wildlife on the island.  Driving the Lizardmobile through the shaded curving lanes was always exciting and led us to the beautiful home itself.  We fell absolutely in love with this home because of the comforting and lovely feel that it has.  The housed has everything you could possibly need for your stay.  It has the privacy you would expect to have at the house and at the beach there is plenty of space and no one bothers you.  Another thing we loved about the house is Myrtle the Gopher Turtle, and of course the tiny lizards that like to sunbathe on the wrap around deck.

We spent plenty of time at the beach picking out the perfect shells to bring home and playing in the waves.  The cabanas that are provided are perfect because they are easy to set up and provide a nice shaded spot.  I spent time nearly every afternoon in the hammock catching up on my reading and then we would go to Barnacle Phil's for a scoop of their delicious ice cream.  After that, we went back to the beach to watch the gorgeous sunset each evening.  It was hard to say goodbye to such a beautiful place....but we will be sure to plan another trip soon!

The Lazy Lizard is the picture-perfect place to plan your next getaway.  It's beautiful, relaxing, and everything you have been looking for.
